UP"
Ron Smits, Wisconsin

guide I've met in a lifetime of hunting."
Dennis Broetzman, Wisconsin

by caribou herds every day."
Gordy Schalla, Wisconsin
"My grizzly with you and my moose
with Dewey are the trophies of my lifetime"
Dr. Larry Leff, California
"A book bear and a book moose.
What a hunt!"
Mark Payton, MT.
"My trophy caribou was taken
with Glen a few hundred yards from the lodge at Golsovia, drinking coffee
in a "blind" we constructed. This was the day after I took my wolf."
Bill Crawford, repeat hunter and
fisherman
"Book bear and huge wolf. Hunt
with the Austin clan. See my photo!!!"
Rick Ruggles, Idaho, repeat guest
"Only ivory-clawed grizz I've
ever seen, made the book, forgot my camera and Jerry walked back 2 miles
to get it. He forgot the pop."
Skeet Henyon, Michigan
"My blond bear is an unsurpassed
trophy and all my hunting friends will be over soon if they can afford
it. To me the skull is the real prize."
Per Holmgren, Norway
"With best wishes and appreciation,...."
George Bush
"Thanks for a successful grizzly
hunt, hope you enjoy the video."
Ron Shearer, host, "Great American
Outdoors."
"My husband Gary and I took our
moose, bear and caribou all on the same hunt. Jerry and his assistants
are the greatest. Gary basically got his moose from bed!! My huge arctic
char didn't outweigh the other trophies but my personal highlight was
catching silvers on an 8 weight as 3 successful hunters departed the lodge."
Diana Broeckel, Illinois
"You said it was 9 1/2 feet and
it was!!"
Jerry S., New York
"Jerry, you and Glen were always
the optimists in the snowstorms, always convincing me I'd get a grizzly
after 7 tries with other guides, and you came through with a super-big
boar. So why did Rick and I have to keep getting your snowmobiles unstuck????
--just kidding"
Ron Hugo, Wisconsin
"The native guides you use are
super, know the land, and contributed 100% to my success. After my bear
I'm coming back for moose."
Dennis Jacob, Arizona
"I'm so happy with my new swizzle-stick."
Deb Tolson, Texas
"Great to be on a hunt with Red
Duke and his kids, who's (kids) helped pack out my bear."
Ray Tolson, Texas
"Jerry, don't enter that moose
into the book."
Dr. Red Duke, Texas and America.
HERO OF HUNTERS, DOCTORS, GUIDES, TEXANS, CARING PEOPLE.
"Jerry and Brad, please don't
take me through "the graveyard" again. I saw 15 bears my first day and
spotted the one I wanted on day 2 right from Mark Thompson's tower at
the lodge. I appreciate your help in collecting it, especially Brad for
packing it out and across the river. Your operation is outrageous."
Doc Hanes, S.C.
"The photos of the tundra I took
and everything that grows on it fascinated me nearly as much as the animals
we collected on our 14-day stay, not to mention the silvers and arctic
char on fly rods."
Ted Ford, S.C.
"I didn't book a spring hunt,
but I hunted in the snow. We walked 6 miles following the bear, fall time.
I collected it. Jerry and I took turns packing the hide/skull back to
the lodge. We were exhausted when we arrived at 1 am. We called Clara
in St. Michael to let her know we were safe. We slept nearly 18 hours."
Antonio Bejas, Portugal
"My grizz came really easy, but
after days and days of hard hunting. Jerry and I spotted this 9-footer
from a boat, beached it, and stalked for over an hour. When the bear didn't
come out of the willow patch Jerry made weird sounds, and lo and behold,
there it was. I packed it out all on my own back to the boat."
Jim S, Chicago
"My '99 26 & 12/16 grizzly was
the trophy of many lifetimes."
Tom Sharko, NJ
"The color on my '99 fall grizz
was awesome, thanks for the great hunt, I'll be back for caribou a year
from December."
Rolli Greer, NJ
"I got my 9 foot grizzly opening
day with Jerry right at his lodge. At 82 years old it was a tremendous
thrill (and what an accomplishment, Dave)."
David Moore, Texas
"Super moose, super bear, super
caribou. I'm spoiled now after my '99 hunt with you. See you in 2003."
Bill Bain, Green Bay
"Glen and Brad are fantastic
guides, thanks so much for my unreal '99 grizzly."
Rick Baeten, Green Bay

"Doc and I are coming back this
winter for caribou with Jerry, Glen, Dewey and Brad. These guides are
supreme, they cook, clean and comfort us. All 3 of us took fine bears
fall '98."
L. Johnson, S.C.
"I showed these youngsters some
darn good tricks getting my fine bear."
Gene Callender, N.C.
"The caribou was the highlight
of my father-in-laws hunt."
Steve Kiker, Penn.
"You are always safe with the
Austin's, especially when I'm guarding fishermen with a .375."
Owen Royce, frequent hunter/fisherman/dog
musher, Wisconsin
"We see a lot of bears. Up close.
Usually your wife is right there. Fishing. I suggest September as a great
time to fish and collect a bear/not lose a wife."
(Jeff lost his upper teeth protecting
his wife Sue from a bear in '98, long story)
"My bear came easy. My moose
involved wading a stream in the late afternoon, sorting out the best bulls,
being charged, shooting the correct one, later being charged by it, dropping
it, skinning with a grizzly close (I'd already collected mine), packing
all the meat out to camp and last the antlers. (this is a regulation,
all the meat must reach the "point" before the antlers.) I'm a war veteran
and this was major exciting. I especially enjoyed being able to accompany
my buddy on his grizzly hunt."
Jim Ball, Missouri
"Seeing a bull moose stare down
a big grizz on our first day of the hunt was AWESOME."
Andy Smith, Texas
"After the vast caribou herds
in winter, I'm coming back for Grizzly bear."
Tony Chen, Singapore
"I'm 81 and I'm taking my grizzly
of a lifetime with Jerry Austin this fall. I'm now 82 and took a 9 footer
on opening Day 99."
D. Moore, Texas
"Thanks for the great effort
on my bear."
J.Neal, Ok.
"We persevered and my trophy
is a credit to you."
Greg James, IL.
"You know how to kill bears."
Loius Pete, Yupik Eskimo, mentor,
Stebbins AK
"You saved my 3 kid's lives by
shooting that bear"
The late Philip Abouchuk, Yupik
Eskimo of St.Michael and the best neighbor one could ask for.
"Packing my bear hide and skull
7 miles on your back, uphill, was unreal. No one but Hank will believe
it."
John Preston, Texas
"You made me madder than anyone
since my college football coach."
Big John Estes from Texas after
his "forced march" for #29. A lifelong friend.
"My wife and I enjoyed your company,
especially at the lodge with your children. The fact that my bear was
smaller than the one that walked by my wife while standing guard over
the boat on the beach is immaterial. Great hunt,"
Don S., Texas
"9'6" spring bear, no matches,
you started a fire with a .44 and blazo. I'd be comfortable with you on
the moon or in Russia."
L.J., Montana
"Book bear with a trusted .270,
great caribou, little light round on the bear, had to pass some up, caribou
went in top 20, thanks Hank and Jerry."
Norris Fox, Texas
"Jerry, your guts and experience
that day produced my bear, 28 and 1/2 yrs old, 11 rounds from a combination
of a .375, .378, and fortunately your .416 Rigby. This bear forever known
as the "RACEHORSE BEAR" to you and Hank Hankerd."
The late Mount Everest Revels.
"Jerry Austin's operation is
by far the best I've ever experienced. Hard work isn't just another cliche',
it's a way of life. Due to Jerry's knowledge of the land, people and animals
I was able to harvest the trophy of a lifetime."
Ron Smits, Green Bay, Wi.
"Jerry, I've been on a lot of
guided hunts and this has been the best experience of my lifetime. Huge
bear and huge moose. Thanks particularly to Dewey and Brad for making
my fall '99 hunt a success."
Eric Johnson, Green Bay
"Taking my huge '99 moose with
a handgun was a thrill of a lifetime. You guys operate the finest hunting
operation anywhere, bar none."
Ron Hugo, Green Bay
"Hi I'm Arnie and I didn't mess
around in fall '99. Took a fine large grizzly and huge bull moose from
Dewey's spike camp along with Brad."
Arnold Sopitzmacher, Green Bay.
"When I saw that 70" bull moose
I knew I had to have it. I'd already spotted Arnie's with snow all over
its antlers. Thanks guys for an outstanding trophy, I'll be back for grizzly
in 2000."
Robert Borucki, Michigan
