Alaska Hunting Trips & Bear Hunting: FAQ - Page 3
Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3

How many hunters do you book for a bear hunting trips? There are 4 of us experienced Alaska hunting guides, so the most is 4. it is more typical to have 3 hunters in the field with 4 Alaska hunting guides.

For a fall Alaska hunting trips, what kind of hunting hours can I expect? 95% of all our bears and 75% of all our moose in the fall hunting trips, are taken after 4pm. A typical day can involve your bear hunting guide getting up and glassing in the morning for an hour, going back to bed, having a big brunch if nothing is seen, and bear hunting hard during the afternoon and evening. Please remember, even in September we have well over 12 hours of daylight. It is not our objective to run a hunter into the ground by putting in too long days. For most non-Alaskan hunters a typical bear hunting trip begins at 3 or 4 in the morning in the dark, so please don't feel that we are being unattentive when we basically hunt the afternoons and evenings. Bear hunting is our business and we are good at it.

For a winter caribou hunt, what are the hours? Short and shorter!!! Actually, we never have less than about 6 hours of available daylight for our Alaska hunting trips. Our caribou hunts begin with a BIG breakfast and we are out by around 10:30 in the morning as day breaks, hunt all day (with a hearty lunch), and return by 6 pm to the hunting lodge at Golsovia.

Does it ever get dark during a spring bear hunting trip? Not really, but during April bear hunting trips there is about 3-4 hours of twilight and in May none. During a bear hunting trip we typically eat breakfast and depart camp about 11am and return by midnight after covering over 100 miles by snowmobile.

If I have a problem with my rifle during a bear hunting trip is a spare available? Always.

Can I use my ATV or snowmobile for a rifle rest? Absolutely not, it is against the law.

Can I chase down an animal on my ATV or snowmobile? Same answer.

After we locate an animal, how long is an average stalk? They all vary, but be prepared to stalk at a rapid pace at least half a mile.

For spring bear hunting trips should I practice on snowshoes? Great idea but not required. We will fit you with them on arrival.
